CHIEF MASTER SERGEANT JAMES M. TRAFICANTE

Chief Master Sgt. James M. Traficante serves as the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the 103rd Airlift Wing, Bradley Air National Guard Base in East Granby, Connecticut. The wing consists of eight C-130H aircraft and a geographically separated Air Control Squadron. As Command Chief, he is the key senior enlisted advisor to the commander and staff on matters of readiness, health, morale, welfare and professional development of more than nine hundred Air National Guard enlisted personnel assigned to the wing. 

 

Chief Traficante began his military service on active duty as an Airlift/Bombardment Aircraft Maintenance Specialist (Crew Chief) in Feb. 1984. Upon finishing his active duty tour, he joined the Rhode Island Air National Guard where he served as a crew chief, flight engineer, and loadmaster when the unit transitioned to C-130J's. He has since completed a tour at the National Guard Bureau as the Loadmaster Functional Manager and a tour at Headquarters Air Mobility Command as the Air National Guard Enlisted Aircrew Liaison to Air Mobility Command. While serving in that capacity, he was also the C-130J Loadmaster Command Manager for Aircrew Standards and Evaluations. In 2014, Chief Traficante was selected to serve as the Loadmaster Superintendent of the 118th Airlift Squadron, 103rd Airlift Wing, and in 2018, he was selected to serve as the 103rd Airlift Wing Command Chief. Throughout his career, Chief Traficante has deployed in support of several operations, including Volant & Coronet Oak, Desert Shield/Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, involved in planning for Operation Tomodachi and a deployment to Operation Inherent Resolve.
